There are hundreds of hiking trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our rental is only 5 mins from the parkway entrance. Trails for this area are MP 312-412.


Mount Mitchell

Close to our rental, Mount Mitchell is the eastern United States highest mountain. Experience a wonderful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Mount Mitchell State Park. A great place to have a picnic and walk on the surrounding trails.


Botanical Gardens

North Carolina Arboretum

Series of magnificent gardens reflecting the heritage & culture of the mountains. Miles of woodland trails open daily. Visitors Center: Call for hours.


Laurel River Trail

There are also loads of places to picnic and swim in the Laurel River located in Hot Springs, NC. You can also walk the seven-mile flat trail along the river. Hot Springs is about 30 minutes from our rental house. Take 26-east (19/23 south) to exit 19 toward Marshall. Make right on US-25 N / US-70 W and follow straight to Hot Springs. You can find the Laurel River trail on the map at the ranger’s station in town.

This is a very beautiful place to spend the day!!!

The Blue Ridge Parkway

The Parkway incorporates several recreation areas, some exceeding 6,000 acres. These parks within the Parkway have visitor centers, camp grounds, picnic areas, trails and, in many instances, concessionaire-operated lodges, restaurants, gas stations and other facilities.
